Open Sourcing AI for Education

Event Description

Much of the AI being developed for education remains proprietary, expensive and inaccessible to the governments and organisations working at the frontlines of learning. This session will explore what it would take to change that and will examine the barriers to open-source AI adoption in education – including technical capacity, data privacy, infrastructure, and the business models that currently lock innovation behind paywalls. It will look at existing examples where open-source AI tools have been deployed in education contexts, drawing on the experience of education organisations and others working at the intersection of technology and foundational learning.
