Event Description

In 2024, 242 million students across 85 countries had their schooling disrupted by extreme climate events, yet education is still financed reactively through humanitarian appeals, if at all. How can continuity of learning become the norm? This panel explores how risk financing such as parametric insurance or contingency funds can support locally- led responses.

Speakers from International Rescue Committee (IRC), Kenya's Ministry of Education, LEGO Foundation, African Risk Capacity Ltd. and Education Above All (EAA) will share what we’ve learned about what it takes to keep learning going through crises.

. Emma Gremley - Senior Director Education, International Rescue Committee (IRC)
