Convened by the Regional Literacy Alliance, this session brings together senior leaders from multilateral institutions and civil society to place foundational literacy at the center of the region's development agenda. Participants will review progress and remaining challenges, and consider the steps needed to sustain and strengthen literacy as a political priority across Latin America.

Event Description
Led by the Regional Literacy Alliance (Alianza Regional por la Alfabetización)—and connected to a movement of 300+ organizations across Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Peru—this session positions foundational literacy as the cornerstone of human capability and sustainable development. Senior leaders from multilateral institutions and civil society will review progress and remaining challenges, and consider the steps needed to sustain and strengthen literacy as a political priority across the region. It marks a milestone in an alignment already underway, bringing civil society and international institutions together at the highest level.
