Adolescents will move the conversation from “Are we listening?” to “What needs to change?” - A youth-led conversation on what secondary education needs to become; grounded in adolescents’ lived experiences, aspirations and questions, and focused on what adults and systems need to change.
Event Description
Secondary education shapes the lives and futures of more than 800 million adolescents, yet remains one of the least funded and researched stages of learning globally. The State of Secondary Education (SOSE) is a growing coalition of NGOs, funders, researchers, policymakers and practitioners working to change that.
Nothing About Us, Without Us puts adolescents at the centre of this conversation. Through rotating facilitated dialogue, young people will share their experiences of school, articulate what they want from education, challenge adult assumptions and ask what needs to change. School leaders, practitioners, funders and policy actors will respond from their own perspectives - connecting youth agency with the systemic changes needed to make secondary education more relevant, equitable and responsive.

It is about asking whether the systems we build around adolescents reflect what they value, the futures they imagine, and the choices they want to have. Because adolescents are not simply beneficiaries of education systems - they are experts in the experience of being educated, and their voices need to shape what comes next.
