What Are We Learning About How To Shape a Better Future?

Event Description

Drawing on learning from across the Global Institute and its wider community, Wendy Kopp (CEO and Co-Founder, Teach For All) and Cheryl Fernando (Director, Global Institute for Shaping a Better Future) will share about the promising ideas, practices and questions emerging from work on transformational classrooms and learning environments, collective leadership for systems change, educator development, holistic assessment and progression, and the role of AI in advancing human flourishing.

Participants will then have the opportunity to engage with these emerging insights, share perspectives from their own contexts, and contribute to our collective learning around five areas:

Develop Educators for a New Paradigm of Learning – How can we train and support teachers who develop students holistically so they can shape a better future? (Steven Farr, Chief Learning Officer)

Build Shared Purpose Across Systems – What enables educators, students, communities and leaders to align around a shared vision for the purpose of education—and sustain that vision over time? (Alex Beard, Chief Learning Officer)

Learning Environments that Support Holistic Development – What are we learning from “lighthouse” schools and learning environments that are developing students toward shaping a better future? (Radha Ruparell, Chief Learning Officer)

Transform Measurement and Progression – If we value holistic student development, how might assessment, credentialing, progression and accountability systems need to evolve to recognize what matters most? (Robbie Dean, Senior Research Director)

AI and Human Flourishing – How can AI help advance holistic student development while strengthening the uniquely human capabilities that matter most? (Cheryl Fernando, Director of the Global Institute)

The session will create space not only to share what we are learning, but also to test these ideas with others, surface examples and perspectives from different contexts, and identify where further learning and collaboration could help move the field forward.
